Academics Overview
The mission of Excel Christian Academy is to provide excellence in education in a Christ-centered atmosphere. The vision our school embraces is for every student to be inspired, challenged, and equipped to glorify God with responsible leadership and action in a modern society. The curriculum at Excel Christian Academy is an accelerated program that trains students to meet our mission and vision by creating opportunities for students to maximize their academic, personal, and spiritual growth.
At ECA, it is our goal to not only meet state standards but to exceed them. We naturally do this in many ways with biblical integration that is incorporated into every subject. Additionally, all students in K-12th grade are required to read 25 books or 1,000,000 words through a variety of means, genres, and texts. As part of this requirement to read 25 books, each grade level studies a Christian hero of the faith.
Each level of the school prepares students to be successful at the current level while preparing them for success as they transition to the next level: elementary to middle to high to college. Small classes allow for greater student-teacher interaction and mastery of learning skills.

Elementary School

Our elementary school is composed of students in grades K-5 and provides the foundation for our school. In the lower elementary (K-2), Excel Christian Academy offers a curriculum that focuses on phonics, cursive writing, and mathematical concepts. In the upper elementary grades (3-5), the curriculum concentrates on the writing process, reading strategies, and mathematical applications. All elementary classes are self-contained

Middle & High School

Middle School consists of students in grades 6-8. Middle school serves as a transition time for our students growing, maturing, and discovering opportunities to succeed. Our high school nurtures students in grades 9-12 and serves as preparatory grounds to equip our students for college and life. Our middle school and high school is a college preparatory program focusing on development of academic skills that will prepare every student for a higher learning program.
Our high school requires a minimum of 24 units to graduate. Requirements include: 4 units each of English, history, science, mathematics, and elective; 2 units of the same foreign language and Bible; 1 unit of physical education/health.
College testing begins in the sophomore and junior years with the administration of the PSAT assessment. Students begin taking the SAT/ACT assessments in late fall of their junior year. Excel students start researching colleges during their junior year and will begin the application process the fall of their senior year.

Elective/Exploratory Classes

In middle school and high school, students rotate based on subject and elective/exploratory. Elective/Exploratory classes are offered at all grade levels kindergarten through twelfth grade. Kindergarten through 5th grade consists of a rotation of art, music, library, and PE for 50 minutes each week. Exploratory classes for middle and high school classes consist of art, physical education, general music, band, chorus, and Spanish. Students may select each of these courses for a semester or for the whole year. Sixth grade students are required to take band.
